We are an agile, close-knit manufacturing, service and engineering company in Mayfield, Kentucky. We service, repair and rebuild high-performance centrifugal air compressors. Our small team environment means your work directly impacts our products and success.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in centrifugal compressor design, repair and analysis. You will lead the analysis and recommend repairs for various manufacturersโ€™ multi-stage centrifugal air compressors based on field data and disassembled components in the shop. This role spans the entire product lifecycle, from the aerodynamic, rotating assembly and structural components to testing and manufacturing support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Design: Own the mechanical design of centrifugal compressors, impellers, casings, and rotor dynamics systems.
  • Vibration Analysis: Coordinate acquisition and analysis of spectral vibration data acquired from machinery at customer jobsites.
  • Component Selection: Specify bearings, seals, couplings, and compressor skid materials suitable for high-speed rotating applications.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with manufacturing teams (internal and 3 rd party) to optimize designs for production and assembly.
  • Testing & Validation: Define test plans, oversee prototype testing, and analyze experimental data to refine designs.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7โ€“10 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on high-speed rotating equipment or turbomachinery.
  • Specialization: Proven expertise in centrifugal compressor design, aerodynamic interfaces, and rotor dynamics.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks), Geomagic DesignX modeling software, and Prophet21 business system software.
  • GD&T Expertise: Deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree with a turbomachinery focus.
  • ISO or ASNT vibration analysis certification โ€“ CAT II or III
  • Experience in a small-scale manufacturing or job-shop environment.
  • Knowledge of API standards (e.g., API 617) for centrifugal compressors.
  • Knowledge and use of coordinate measuring machines for component dimensional checks.
