Job description

Overview

MSA has an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our Marshfield, WI office for Summer 2027. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting a variety of Mobility projects throughout central Wisconsin. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technical staff while gaining practical exposure to project development, engineering consulting, and the day-to-day work of a consulting engineer. Depending on project needs and locations, there may also be opportunities for field work.

MSA internships are typically at least 12 weeks in duration, ranging from mid-May 2027 to mid-August 2027, with start/exit dates confirmed later in the hiring process. For engineering students seeking consulting experience with building projects, this is the position for you!   Additionally, an internship at MSA provides you with a collaborative environment across the firm among the 40 interns each summer.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing CAD drawings for highway improvement projects
  • Assisting with the development of project plans, quantities, and specifications
  • Compiling project documentation consistent with current DOT standards
  • Supporting Transportation engineering design activities
  • Assisting with survey, field inspection, staking operations, and related field work as project needs require
  • Learning engineering consulting practices while contributing to meaningful infrastructure improvements
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering program
  • Valid driver's license
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative consulting environment
  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer. MSA will not provide employment sponsorship for this position.

Preferred

  • Previous engineering or related internship experience
  • Familiarity with engineering principles and roadway projects
  • Experience with AutoCAD through coursework or previous internships
