Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) - Mobile
Austin, TX | Southlake, TX
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions for iOS and Android mobile applications. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality releases through robust automation frameworks, effective testing strategies, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for mobile applications using Appium with Java.
  • Support full lifecycle mobile application development across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Execute automated test suites, ensure continuous test runs, and analyze/report results.
  • Quickly identify, troubleshoot, and escalate defects, providing detailed reports with screenshots and videos.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into comprehensive test cases and automation scripts.
  • Configure and manage iOS simulators and Android emulators, including cloud-based and real-device testing environments.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams, including developers, product owners, and Scrum Masters, to plan and deliver testing milestones.
  • Ensure test coverage across functional, UI, compatibility, usability, and accessibility requirements.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in mobile application development.
  • 4+ years of experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in mobile test automation using Appium with Java.
  • Experience with UI testing frameworks such as XCUITest (iOS) and Espresso (Android).
  • Hands-on experience with device testing platforms such as Sauce Labs, Perfecto, or similar tools.
  • Deep understanding of iOS and Android operating systems, device configurations, and debugging techniques.
  • Experience with performance testing, including monitoring CPU usage, memory, and battery consumption.
  • Proficiency with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr, HP ALM/Quality Center).
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub or similar tools).
  • Strong knowledge of test design principles, automation best practices, and Agile/Lean DevOps methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Swift and/or Kotlin for mobile application development.
