Overview

Job Purpose

The Application Developer role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining application features in alignment with business requirements and sprint commitments. The role operates within an established SDLC and Agile delivery model, using Jira for sprint planning and tracking and Bitbucket for source control and code collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver well-defined tasks under guidance
  • Follow established patterns and escalate blockers
  • Independently deliver features end-to-end
  • Break down work and support junior developers
  • Stay up to date with the latest technological trends and tools and suggest improvements to existing systems and workflows
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients' technical requests, working directly with them to understand their needs and provide timely, effective solutions

Application Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain application features based on approved requirements
  • Write clean, maintainable, and secure code aligned with development standards
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle: design, build, test, deploy, and support

Agile Delivery & Sprint Execution

  • Participate in Jira-based Agile ceremonies
  • Execute work within sprint commitments and timelines
  • Maintain accurate Jira ticket updates
  • Escalate delivery risks early

Source Control & Code Management

  • Use Bitbucket for version control and pull requests
  • Follow branching and commit standards
  • Participate in code reviews

Testing & Quality

  • Perform appropriate testing and validate changes prior to release
  • Support defect remediation

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Document implementation details and collaborate with cross-functional teams
