This is a rare career opportunity to support NASA's critical Payload Missions and Operations, contributing directly to the success of programs like the International Space Station (ISS) sustained operations and the Artemis missions, which are returning humans to the Moon and establishing the foundation for future Mars exploration.

In Huntsville, Alabama-the Rocket City and heart of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center-you'll work hands-on with the ServiceNow platform to design, develop, configure, and implement solutions focused on ITSM (IT Service Management), ITOM (IT Operations Management), and SPM (Strategic Portfolio Management) modules. This multi-year contract (8.5 years, initiated January 2023) offers the chance to drive transformative IT service capabilities in a mission-critical aerospace environment, collaborating with diverse teams to deliver innovative, reliable solutions that align with organizational goals and enable groundbreaking space exploration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, configure, test, and implement ServiceNow solutions, including custom applications, workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and integrations, with a focus on ITSM, ITOM, and SPM modules.
  • Participate in the full lifecycle of ServiceNow implementation for the HOSC environment, from requirements gathering and architecture design to deployment, testing, and ongoing administration.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders, end users, and program personnel-to elicit requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and ensure alignment with mission objectives.
  • Apply Agile development practices in an interactive team setting, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and continuous improvement to deliver features iteratively.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, maintainable code using ServiceNow best practices, scripting (JavaScript, GlideScript), and platform capabilities while ensuring security, performance, and compliance.
  • Provide hands-on administration support, including instance management, user access, configuration tuning, and troubleshooting to support operational excellence.
  • Drive integration strategies across tools and systems, implement automation, and support transformative initiatives that enhance IT service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Document technical designs, configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer, compliance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Mentor team members, promote innovation, and identify opportunities to improve capabilities and processes in a high-stakes, regulated environment.
  • Conduct testing (unit, integration, UAT) and support production deployments with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Programming, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ServiceNow software development and administration, ideally with ServiceNow cloud environments.
  • Proven hands-on experience with ServiceNow design, development, implementation, and administration, with concentration in ITSM, ITOM, and SPM modules.
  • Strong proficiency in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide), workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI actions/policies, and integrations.
  • Experience working in Agile methodologies and collaborating in team-based development environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts, gather requirements, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex development tasks while contributing to team success.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligibility to obtain required clearances for work on NASA/government-related projects (preferred).

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
  • ServiceNow Certified Administrator.
  • ServiceNow ITSM Certified Implementation Specialist.
  • Additional certifications in ITOM, SPM, or related modules.
  • Background in aerospace, government contracting, NASA programs, or mission-critical IT operations with emphasis on security and compliance.
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and best practices for service management.
  • Passion for excellence, innovation, and leading technical improvements in support of space exploration.

This on-site role at MSFC offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, professional growth opportunities, and the unparalleled satisfaction of contributing to NASA's historic missions.
