Job description

Application Developer
We are seeking an Application Developer to join Zions Bancorporation. The Application Developer plays a key role in supporting and maintaining various systems, performing technical analysis, application development, configuration, incident response, troubleshooting, testing, and change management. This role develops software solutions by studying requirements, collaborating with stakeholders and IT management, and designing software using development fundamentals. The position is responsible for both out-of-the-box and custom development, reviewing business processes, and recommending improvements. The Application Developer manages source code, works with Business Analysts, conducts unit testing, prepares documentation, and participates in product design reviews. Collaboration across teams and applying user insights to enhance user experience are central to this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Support, maintain, and provide ongoing administration of business-critical applications and systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Perform technical analysis, application development, configuration, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for websites, applications, and user access issues.
  • Manage incidents, changes, system enhancements, and project-related activities, including issue resolution, configuration management, and change/release processes.
  • Provide on-call application support and participate in incident response efforts to minimize system downtime and service disruptions.
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing business and technical requirements, collaborating with stakeholders, and implementing effective technology solutions.
  • Design, develop, configure, and enhance applications using both out-of-the-box functionality and custom development approaches.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate business processes, procedures, and system requirements, recommending and implementing process improvements.
  • Partner with Business Analysts, business units, Technical Service Analysts (TSAs), Software Engineers, SDETs, Integration Engineers, system administrators, DBAs, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver application enhancements.
  • Manage and maintain source code repositories, version control artifacts, and software deployment processes.
  • Conduct unit testing, support quality assurance efforts, prepare technical documentation, and validate system changes prior to production release.
  • Collaborate with customer service teams, product managers, developers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to improve system functionality, user experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3 + years of experience in software development, application support, systems analysis, or a related technical role.
  • Experience with software and application development using multiple technologies, programming languages, databases, integrations, frameworks, and development methodologies.
  • Strong programming and systems analysis experience with the ability to design, develop, test, and troubleshoot applications and system solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of software development lifecycles, SQL, database systems, and data modeling concepts.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python, APIs, and data integration technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, source code management, and cloud platforms.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of integrated application development methodologies and best practices.
  • Strong analytical, judgment, project management, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing technology and business needs.
  • Financial services or banking industry experience is a plus.
