Job Summary
The Industrial Engineering Manager leads the Engineering team at the RCV Distribution Center, collaborating closely with the Carhartt 3PL onsite management to drive operational excellence through process improvements in automation, maintenance, and overall distribution performance. This role oversees the full lifecycle of improvement and expansion initiatives from concept through development and implementation, focused on new products, equipment, and systems within the RCV. Additionally, the manager supports ongoing operations across Carhartt's distribution and logistics network. By providing strategic leadership and fostering a culture of collaboration, the manager plays a key role in developing systems and processes that reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and boost productivity.

Associate Responsibilities
  • Coach, mentor and develop Distribution Engineering team.
  • Support business case for potential MHE addition, and partner with MHE providers to support the design and installation of material handling equipment into existing and future facilities.
  • Lead engineering team members in the development and maintenance of accurate and effective engineered standards through detailed review of time and frequency studies, ensuring that the Labor Management System is accurate and maintained.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of best practices for all job functions within the RCV.
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize asset reliability.
  • Develop capital budgets/forecasts and manage capital projects and equipment upgrades. Maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Supports the Distribution and Logistics group by assisting with technical issues that may be addressed though either engineering methods or application of technology.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple high-visibility projects and tasks while effectively influencing and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.
  • Driving Key Performance Indicators ensuring adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Partner with our Procurement team to schedule and interface directly with contractors/vendors for bid specifications and negotiation pricing.
  • Support capital projects when required with work sampling, cost justification (Return on Investment), and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Works with Carhartt's Customer Experience group on feasibility and costing of Value Added Service (VAS) requests and consults on vendor compliance issues impacting distribution and logistics operations.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain representatives to develop key metrics to drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
  • Utilize system data to provide visibility to Sr. leadership and stakeholders and drive performance.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering required; or equivalent experience

Required Skills & Experience
  • Combination of 5-8 years engineering / operation / maintenance experience in distribution and product fulfillment
  • 3+ years leading technical team members
  • WMS (Manhattan) experience preferred.
  • High volume automated Goods to Person experience preferred
  • CMMS experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge in analyzing large data sets (Excel, SQL, BI, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge in development of engineering standards and incentive systems
  • Experience in using AutoCAD and ability to read blue prints
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Union experience is preferred: 3PL experience is a plus

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Office/distribution environment; extended periods of sitting, standing is required
  • Light lifting may be required 45 pounds with occasional lifting up to 65 pounds
  • Willing to work some weekends if necessary
  • Union/Non-union environment
  • Travel up to 20%
  • This position has an On-site location: Associate will work on-site for all work-related activities
