General Summary:
The Interoperability Developer II is responsible for working collaboratively with IT and operational staff to design and develop complex interoperability solutions using multiple development tools and programming languages to meet customer expectations. The Interoperability Developer II engineers and builds interfaces using advanced knowledge of integration and system protocols between enterprise-wide hardware platforms, operating systems and software environments and integrates them into workflow that frees end users to focus on patient care. The Interoperability Developer II is responsible for selection, design and developing integration solutions that support key strategic organizational priorities, including population health management, patient engagement, and healthcare information exchange, interpretation, and usability.
Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates accountability and collaboration as a team member by working successfully with internal and external clients. a. Assist with design sessions with analysts, technical staff, and subject matter experts to conceptualize the design and configuration of interfaces and create functional specifications to meet customer expectations. . b. Assists with project management tasks - leading meetings, prioritizing, resolving conflicts, maintaining issues lists. c. Establish and maintain strong third-party vendor relationships. d. Ensures that consumers are satisfied with interoperability solutions. e. Follows up with clients on unresolved problems.
2. Using independent judgement designs, engineers, develops and validates advanced interoperability and interface solutions. a. Identifies appropriate workflows, connection protocols and resources for data exchange to enhance the resolution of business challenges. b. Reads and interprets interface design specifications to include context, data flow, logical diagrams, connection protocols, information mapping, translations, and presentation. c. Applies understanding of interoperability concepts and techniques in addition to application of knowledge related to: HL7 and other interfaces, Care Everywhere, FHIR, APIs, HISPs, conversions, query protocols, etc. d. Supports the development of efficient, scalable, secure interfaces based on industry standards, best practices, and common processes for information transmission between applications internal and external.e. Develops and performs less complex translations, mapping, conversions, and programming of interfaces.
3. Evaluate and continuously improve interoperability solutions and communicate results and outcomes to management team as required. a. Provides system integration recommendations including interface structure, implementation, process, and documentation improvements by utilizing specialized programming skills, conceptual design capabilities, and knowledge of interface engines and protocols. b. Performs performance tuning to optimize, debug and monitor interfaces to meet end user needs. c. Responsible for testing, validating and documenting all interface workflows and adhering to change management practices.d. Ensures a high level of availability for all critical interfaces and applications.e. Utilizes emerging technology research and presents findings to management and end-user community. f. Performs basic troubleshooting without assistance and evaluates overall consumer satisfaction with integration. g. Assists end users, IT application analyst and technical staff as needed
4. Mentors and assists other Interoperability Developers.
5. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor Degree
  • Credential(s): Related cert within 6months of hire if not already obtained
  • Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in a Healthcare IT environment, familiarity with HL7

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
  • Education: Master Degree
  • Credential(s): Epic Bridges Certification
  • Experience: 7 or more years of relevant experience in Healthcare and IT and HL7. Experience with Cloverleaf Interface engine, or other interface engines (Mirth, Rhapsody)
