Position summary: JMT is seeking a career-minded Design Engineer who is looking for growth and advancement. The selected candidate will work with a team of experienced project managers and professional engineers working on exciting projects that will improve the movement of people and goods. The selected candidate will be responsible for engineering design and/or analysis using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments.

Compensation for this position is $39.00-$47.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering tasks in the traffic engineering field through application of relevant design criteria, standards, and processes
  • Perform alternative studies
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography and other topographical to plan projects
  • Perform design computations
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
  • Develop construction cost estimates 
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents, like contract specifications, for advertisement and construction
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
  • Perform traffic operations analysis based on the Highway Capacity Manual
  • Perform Safety and Traffic Engineering Studies
