Job Description

Responsible for the engineering of various and complex aspects of both physical and cloud hosted data center infrastructures which might include network, compute, storage, platform, middleware, database and telephony. Independently analyze current and future requirements to effectively design data center infrastructure, networking and telephony systems while determining design feasibility from both technical and economic perspectives. Develop and maintain technical standards, procedures and documentation in partnership with service partners as needed. Compile and analyze operational data and directs proof of technology to establish standard for new designs or modifications to existing equipment, systems, or processes. Independently partner and consult with varied technical, business, project and management staff to identify and plan, assess data center and cloud infrastructure designs, physical data center requirements and impacts and resolve design problems.

  • Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure capabilities consistently meet established SLAs.
  • Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards to ensure scalability, resilience, and operational excellence.
  • Serve as an infrastructure subject matter expert, providing deep technical guidance on emerging technologies and partnering strategically with key technology vendors.
  • Lead and contribute to software and hardware licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives to ensure efficient adoption and operation of datacenter technologies.
  • Proactively consult with IT partners, business stakeholders, and vendors impacted by network and data center infrastructure decisions.
  • Execute detailed infrastructure designs for large-scale and complex initiatives in collaboration with IT stakeholders, service owners, and delivery partners.
  • Ensure operational readiness through engineering, planning, coordination, and execution of performance tuning, system support, incident and problem resolution, installations, and upgrades.
  • Provide expert-level guidance and hands-on consultation during complex production incidents to support rapid resolution and system stability.
  • Develop and maintain standardized engineering guidelines, procedures, and schedules to streamline solution delivery and improve datacenter operational efficiency.
  • Build strong partnerships across the enterprise architecture community to maintain technical roadmaps and contribute to infrastructure strategies and standards.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors to ensure delivered infrastructure solutions align with architectural intent and design specifications.
  • Present new and emerging technology overviews to IT and enterprise leadership across a variety of leadership forums.
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers by providing technical direction, design guidance, and knowledge sharing as needed.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in related field.
  • In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Salary Range
