To thrive as an addiction counselor at Applegate Recovery, you need a background in counseling, psychology, or social work, typically supported by relevant degrees and state licensure or certification (such as CADC or LADC). Familiarity with electronic health records, substance abuse assessment tools, and treatment planning systems is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and cultural sensitivity are crucial for building trust with clients and guiding them through recovery. These skills ensure effective support, compliance with regulatory standards, and positive outcomes for individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

Ongoing professional development and access to supervision also support counselors in managing caseloads and maintaining personal well-being.
