Job description

We're building the next generation of Apple's cloud services observability infrastructure. Join us to design and build the applications and services that give us deep insight into the operational health and efficiency of CloudKit, Apple's foundational privacy-focused database platform, and many other iCloud services.
Description
We're looking for engineers with a strong track record of building fault-tolerant, distributed systems, and the judgment to operate confidently in a complex, high-scale environment.
Our team builds the services and applications that power observability across CloudKit and other iCloud services, giving engineers the visibility they need to operate at massive scale. You'll work across the full lifecycle, from designing new services to deploying them on Kubernetes, while collaborating closely with infrastructure and platform teams whose systems you integrate with. We value engineers who can move fluidly between hands-on coding, architecture decisions, and production ownership, and who are curious about applying new techniques, including machine learning, to solve operational problems.","responsibilities":"Design, develop, and support distributed applications and services that ingest and process massive volumes of operational data
Integrate with large-scale data processing engines (e.g., Spark, Trino, Flink) as part of a broader service architecture
Collaborate with teams across iCloud to understand their systems and deliver the insights and tooling they need to operate with confidence
Drive end-to-end project execution, from design reviews and through production releases
Deploy, scale, and maintain highly concurrent and throughput-intensive services
Triage, investigate, and remediate production and operational issues
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink, Trino) and languages commonly used with them, such as Scala or Python
Familiar with time-series event data and systems
Familiar with distributed streaming architectures and data analytics at scale
Experience with observability concepts and frameworks
Experience using AWS, GCP, and cloud native technologies
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years experience developing software in Java or a similar language (e.g., C++, C#, Go)
Strong background in designing, building, and operating backend services and distributed systems
Experience in programming in concurrent and multi-threaded environments
Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes or similar container orchestration platforms
