WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORJOB PURPOSE

The Production Supervisor, pre-module position is crucial in any manufacturing setting to ensure operational efficiency, quality control, and optimal team performance. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, managing schedules, and ensuring that production goals are met efficiently and safely. Production Supervisors maintain high standards of product quality, manage costs, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. They also provide leadership, coordinate with other departments, train new employees, and motivate their teams to achieve production targets. Essentially, this position exists to bridge the gap between the production floor and higher management, ensuring that the manufacturing processes are seamless, issues are swiftly resolved, and the final products meet the organization's standards of excellence.

STRUCTURE

The Production Supervisor reports to Plant Manager.

RESPONSIBILITY
  • Overseeing the manufacturing processes and procedures in factory production operations
  • Supervise the manufacturing floor
  • Review product line to ensure targeted efficiency is acquired
  • Create and adhere to effective work schedules
  • Have a good understanding of the product and flow on the production floor
  • Ensure that raw materials are in place in pre-mod and delivered in a timely manner to the production floor
  • Understand company safety regulations and maintain a safe workplace
  • Create and oversee employee training to increase production
  • Maintaining communication between management and employees to ensure that necessary policies are understood and followed
  • Maintain effective communication between management, engineering, and employees to ensurepolicies, schedules, and methods are adhered to
  • Ability to complete written reports
  • Supervise 45-60 employees
  • Set the example of professionalism and fair play for all employees on their assigned line
  • Monitor attendance and recommend progressive disciplinary actions
  • Motivate, seek employee engagement
  • Support and Drive Lean manufacturing and 5S Initiatives
  • Understanding and complying with FMLA and Worker’s Compensation, related federal, state, and local laws
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory position, experience in a manufacturing plant, have had oversight of factory operations, understand process flow, good people manager, has a good understanding of operational efficiency/productivity.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required
  • Must have a detailed understanding of Management skills, business practices, and judgment in applying policies and adapting standard methods to accomplish goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Standing for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend instructions and orientation to the job.
  • Ability to concentrate attention on tasks at hand for extended periods of time.
  • Experience in garment manufacturing is an asset
  • The ability to speak Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset
  • ERP experience is an asset
MEASURES OF SUCCESSKnowledge Requirements:
  • Policy and Procedure Compliance: Effective application and enforcement of company policies and procedures, ensuring all factory operations comply with regulatory standards. Success could be measured by the absence of compliance issues or violations during audits.
  • Garment Manufacturing Processes: Understanding of garment manufacturing processes, including cutting, screen printing, strip cutting, label printing, heat press, RF welding, offline operation, and quality control, to effectively oversee production activities and ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Production Planning and Scheduling: Familiarity with production planning and scheduling techniques, such as line balancing, capacity planning, and production sequencing, to optimize workflow, minimize downtime, and meet production targets efficiently.
Skills Requirements:
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using MS Word and Excel to manage production data, generate reports, and analyze trends to make informed decisions. Success could include specific examples of how Excel has been used to optimize scheduling, inventory management, or cost analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, contributing to clear, concise, and effective dissemination of information across all levels of the organization. Success could be measured by the accuracy and timeliness of reports and presentations to management.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to workplace health and safety standards, including WHMIS guidelines, with a track record of reducing workplace incidents.
Ability Requirements:
  • Operational Efficiency: Demonstrated improvement in operational efficiency and productivity within the factory, measured by reduced downtime, increased throughput, and better utilization of resources. Success could be quantified by achieving or surpassing productivity targets set by the organization.

Success could be quantified by metrics such as reduced waste percentages and increased speed of production cycles.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to learn new processes quickly, adapt to changes, and solve operational problems effectively. Success might be quantified by specific instances where quick learning or adaptability led to minimal disruption and maintained or increased production output.
