Senior Engineering Manager, App Ecosystem

Job description

We're on a mission to end the debt cycle and help our customers and their communities unlock economic mobility for generations to come. Join the team that's making our goal a reality. At Possible, we're building a new type of consumer finance company. One that helps our customers stay out of debt rather than profit from them staying in it. As a Public Benefit Corporation, our mission and responsibility are to help communities unlock economic mobility, with affordable credit products designed to improve financial health.
Founded in 2017, our lead VCs are Canvas and Union Square Ventures. We are a fully distributed company with a global workforce. We have over 100,000 reviews on the App Store with a 4.8-star average rating. Just as we are committed to building a new type of consumer finance company, we are equally dedicated to the employee experience.
The Team
The App Ecosystem team was born out of a strategic reorg to solve one of Possible's biggest challenges: we've grown from a single lending product into a portfolio of products, but our mobile app was built for a one-product company. We own the React Native platform that serves as the connective tissue, turning that single product app into a cohesive, multi-product experience, from authentication and account settings to the multi-product dashboard and core component library. You'll partner with a Principal PM and lead a team of 7 engineers who make our product teams faster.
The Role
We're building the app platform for the future. Possible products to be built on, and we need an engineering leader to lead the journey, taking a long-term vision and turning it into a set of capability-enabling projects. You'll report to the VP of Engineering, managing a team of 7 engineers while staying hands-on: writing code, making architectural calls, and reviewing quality alongside your team, not just approving decisions from a distance. You'll bring a builder's mindset and a bias toward ownership, treating this platform's growth as your own.
The ideal candidate has deep fluency in React Native and Expo and has worked on mobile apps that span multiple teams. Experiences leading a frontend/app platform team, and/or helping a company go from one product to many, will translate well in this role. You'll help establish AI-first engineering practices, mentor a team of strong engineers, and hold the technical bar high while you grow the platform alongside a growing customer base.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience managing engineers, with a track record of developing and retaining talent
  • Deep, hands-on React Native expertise; you can write and review code, not just direct others who do
  • A growth mindset: comfort building in ambiguity, iterating fast, and evolving direction as the platform and customer base scale
  • Active use of AI tools in your own workflow, with experience driving AI adoption across a team
  • Experience balancing shared platform quality with the velocity multiple product teams need

Possible Finance is on a mission to help communities break the debt cycle and unlock economic mobility for generations to come. With the backing of our venture investors (Union Square Ventures, Canvas Ventures, Euclidean Capital, Unlock Venture Partners), a loyal following of hundreds of thousands of customers, and a fantastic team, we're unwavering in our fight for financial fairness. As one of only a few fintech Public Benefit Corporations, we've baked our dual commitment to building a profitable and socially impactful company right into our charter; we only succeed when our customers do too. If you'd like to help us ship financial products that protect consumers from predatory lending practices and promote financial health, give us a shout.
This is a Hybrid position. We work in the office three days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday). Our office is in downtown Seattle.
The compensation range for this role is $197,800 to $215,000. We also offer significant stock options, full benefits, a bonus plan, commuter benefits, and a very desirable office with free drink and food options.
