Exowatt

Austin, TX • On-site

Internship

Posted 4 days ago

Job description

Exowatt is revolutionizing the energy landscape for the AI era with our groundbreaking P3 system that captures solar energy, stores it as heat, and generates electricity on demand. Founded in 2023 and backed by leading investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sam Altman, and Felicis, we're committed to providing clean, modular, and scalable power that meets the rapidly growing demands of AI infrastructure. Our mission is to make sustainable renewable energy always available and almost free, enabling technological advancement while protecting our planet.
Work as one of a two-person intern team extending our internal inventory-management app and the IoT/robotics layer around it: LLM-driven anomaly detection, automated reorder, agentic purchasing, and sensor/RFID integration for receiving and tracking.
This position is based at our Austin facility.
Key responsibilities
  • Extend the existing inventory-management app - automated reorder, price-trend awareness, and richer LLM-driven anomaly detection beyond today's rule-based alerts.
  • Build on the live RFID/MQTT + receiving pipeline; add IoT sensing and wire new device data into the platform.
  • Prototype agentic purchasing / reorder automation using LLM-driven workflows.
  • Explore a drivable RFID scanner (robotics/IoT) for automated stock-taking - build toward a working demonstrator.
  • During onboarding, read and improve existing internal apps (real platform improvements, not throwaway exercises).

Required qualifications
  • Pursuing a CS / software-engineering / EE / robotics (or closely related) degree.
  • Strong programming fundamentals; comfortable in Python.
  • Genuine interest in hardware / IoT / robotics alongside software.
  • Comfortable with Git and collaborative development.

Preferred / nice-to-have
  • Hands-on IoT / embedded / microcontroller experience.
  • RFID, sensors, or robotics / mechatronics exposure.
  • LLM / AI-API experience.
  • Scrappy hardware-hacker instinct; comfortable building physical demonstrators.
