Job Title: API Gateway Developer

Location: Buffalo, New York

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated API Gateway Developer to join our Integration and Middleware Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining API solutions using Axway API Gateway and Axway API Manager. This role requires hands-on experience in API development, integration patterns, and securing enterprise APIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in API development and integration.
  • Define system and product requirements and generate software/hardware performance and reliability specifications.
  • Lead evaluation, design, and integration of enhancements or new system releases.
  • Enhance processes, procedures, and policies related to system performance.
  • Collaborate with management teams and vendors on planning, upgrading, testing, and securing IT solutions.
  • Design and implement architecturally compliant system landscapes.
  • Develop, test, implement, document, and maintain systems software and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server, operating system, and infrastructure issues.
  • Monitor systems and networks for errors, malfunctions, and security threats.
  • Prepare network analytics, data reports, and operational manuals.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and related documentation.
  • Train engineering teams on new systems, protocols, and best practices.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience with API Gateways such as Axway, AWS, or equivalent platforms, including global deployments.
  • Strong understanding of API security mechanisms and ability to develop and execute security remediation plans.
  • Ability to advise application teams on building APIs aligned with architectural and security standards.
  • Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP service paradigms, WSDL, and Swagger validation.
