Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION 

The QA Intern – Data Quality & Automation will support the Quality Assurance team in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and quality of enterprise data and applications. Working under the guidance of the QA Manager, the intern will gain hands-on experience in data validation, test automation, and quality engineering practices across enterprise applications, data warehouses, data engineering pipelines, and data migration initiatives. 

This internship provides an opportunity to develop technical and analytical skills while contributing to real-world projects in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist in executing functional, integration, regression, API, and user acceptance testing activities. 

  • Support data validation and quality checks across Data Warehouse, ETL/ELT pipelines, reports, dashboards, and enterprise applications. 

  • Perform data reconciliation between source and target systems during data integration and migration activities. 

  • Develop and maintain test cases, test data, test scripts, and QA documentation. 

  • Assist in creating and maintaining automated test scripts and data validation routines under the guidance of senior team members. 

  • Execute SQL queries to validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. 

  • Log, track, and verify software defects using defect management tools. 

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and QA review sessions. 

  • Collaborate with QA Engineers, Developers, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Product teams to understand business requirements and quality expectations. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes and automation. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION:  

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Basic understanding of software testing concepts and software development lifecycle (SDLC). 

  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. 

  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and quality engineering practices. 

  • Basic knowledge of SQL and database concepts. 

  • Exposure to Python, Java, or another programming language. 

  • Familiarity with APIs and tools such as Postman. 

  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms, data warehousing, or ETL concepts. 

  • Exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or PyTest is a plus. 

  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, or Jira is desirable but not required.
