Registered Nurse (RN) - Apheresis / Med-Surg

Location: Syracuse, NY

Job Type: 14-Week Contract | Traveler Only

Shift: Day Shift (Monday-Friday)

Hours: 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM

Pay Rate: $65 - $70/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with Apheresis experience to provide specialized nursing care for adult and pediatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, expertise in vascular access management, and experience operating advanced apheresis technologies.

Requirements
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License required.

  • Current BLS Certification required.

  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care experience within the last 2 years required.

  • Minimum 1 year of Apheresis experience required.

  • Strong IV insertion skills required.

  • Experience with AV Fistulas and Vortex Ports required.

  • Experience with Spectra Optia and Cellex systems required.

  • Experience working in hospitals of equal or greater size and/or trauma centers required.

  • EPIC EMR experience preferred.

  • Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience highly preferred.

  • Excellent communication, assessment, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Clean professional license history with no suspensions, investigations, or liability claims.

Responsibilities
  • Perform therapeutic apheresis procedures for adult and pediatric patients.

  • Conduct patient assessments before, during, and after treatments.

  • Manage vascular access including AV fistulas and Vortex ports.

  • Operate and troubleshoot Spectra Optia and Cellex apheresis equipment.

  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and intervene appropriately.

  • Administer medications and blood products as ordered.

  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

  • Document patient care and treatment information accurately within EPIC and other clinical systems.

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and procedures.

Certification & Licensure
  • New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Level I or Level II Trauma Center Experience

  • EPIC EMR Experience

  • Experience with complex apheresis procedures and specialty patient populations
