Job description

The Center for Discovery is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered Adapted Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will provide individualized adapted physical education instruction to students with autism and multiple disabilities in accordance to their IEP goals and objectives. Additional responsibilities will include developing and implementing adapted physical education units and lessons in a variety of settings. APE classes may take place indoors, outdoors, or in our aquatic center. Our APE teachers may also be included as supportive resources during various special events throughout the year. This position requires the ability to modify activities, equipment, and instruction to promote participation and growth as each student progresses toward achieving their individualized goals. This position requires ongoing collaboration between teachers, therapists, support staff, and families to optimize student experiences. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, flexible, has strong communication skills, and is committed to helping all students build lifelong fitness skills.
