Job description

About the Role

Uber is seeking an experienced, strategic, and mission-driven leader to serve as Senior Manager, Global Marketplace Security Strategy & Programs. This critical leadership role will own the strategy, governance, and evolution of Uber's global Marketplace Security (MS) program, ensuring our platform remains safe, resilient, and trusted during periods of disruption, crisis, and operational risk.

This role is responsible for establishing globally consistent Marketplace Security capabilities across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC through standardized governance, operational frameworks, technical solutions, and cross-functional partnerships. The successful candidate will drive program maturity, influence product development, and lead one of Global Security's highest-priority strategic initiatives.

In addition, this role serves as Global Security's lead for Marketplace Security planning and operational readiness for major global events such as the FIFA World Cup and Olympic Games, as well as Uber's Autonomous Vehicle (AV) strategy. The position will coordinate closely with Operations, Product, Engineering, Legal, Policy, Public Safety, Strategic Intelligence, Physical Security, and the Regional Security Centers (RSCs) to ensure timely, consistent, and scalable security solutions worldwide.

What You'll Do
  • Own the global Marketplace Security strategy, governance, and program roadmap.
  • Establish standardized policies, frameworks, SOPs, SLAs, playbooks, and training programs across all mega-regions.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of technical and operational Marketplace Security capabilities by partnering with Engineering, Product, Legal, Policy, Public Safety, and Operations to build scalable solutions that reduce risk and increase capability.
  • Lead global Marketplace Security preparedness by ensuring operational readiness for major incidents, emerging threats, and major events including FIFA World Cup, the Olympic Games, elections, civil unrest, severe weather, and other large-scale disruptions.
  • Drive the Marketplace Security strategy supporting Autonomous Vehicles (AV), ensuring security tooling can implement operational controls.
  • Define, measure, and communicate program success through KPIs including trips protected, SLA performance, regulatory compliance, operational resiliency, and cost avoidance.
  • Author and maintain executive-level strategy documents, technical requirements, white papers, project plans, after-action reports and other documentation.
  • Serve as the primary Global Security advocate for Marketplace Security with executive leadership, cross-functional stakeholders and external partners.
Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in security, risk management, emergency response, technology operations, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex cross-functional programs and geographically distributed teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and leverage technical platforms, operational tooling, data architecture, APIs, and system capabilities to drive operational security outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Product, Engineering, Legal, Policy, and Operations teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting technology-enabled operations, including the use of operational tooling, real-time decision-making, and risk mitigation in a complex platform environment.
  • Deep knowledge of public safety, emergency management, regulatory engagement, or crisis management.
  • Experience with operational security, geospatial, incident management, or data visualization platforms used to support real-time operational decision-making and risk management.
  • Experience designing or leading enterprise-scale programs involving technical product development, operational tooling, automation, or AI-enabled workflows.
  • Experience with Autonomous Vehicle (AV) risk strategy, mobility platforms, or emerging transportation technologies is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop executive briefings, technical documentation and strategic proposals.
  • Experience using data, analytics, and performance metrics to drive operational improvements and strategic decision-making.
  • Proven success building or leading large-scale operational security, crisis management, or enterprise risk programs.
Why This Role Matters

Marketplace Security is a foundational layer of trust, resilience, and operational integrity across Uber's global platform. Every day, Marketplace Security protects riders, earners, couriers, merchants, employees, and strategic partners by enabling timely operational decisions that reduce risk while supporting business continuity.

As Uber expands its marketplace capabilities, autonomous vehicle operations, global partnerships, and regulatory footprint, Marketplace Security must continue to evolve alongside the business. This role will define that future by building scalable capabilities, advancing technical innovation, and ensuring Global Security remains a strategic enabler of Uber's growth.
