Job description

Oakridge Equine Hospital  is home to a collaborative team of five board-certified surgeons and a board-certified internal medicine specialist, with a busy and varied caseload that spans sports medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and emergency care.

As an intern, you'll work closely with our senior clinicians and gain hands-on experience across a wide range of cases. We prioritize teaching and mentorship, and each intern is paired with different clinicians on a rotating basis to ensure broad exposure and a well-rounded experience. Daily responsibilities include assisting with outpatient diagnostics, lameness and sports medicine exams, surgery, and the care of hospitalized patients. Interns also receive dedicated anesthesia training as part of the program.

We aim to support a sustainable schedule, with interns typically receiving two nights off per week and 1-2 weekends off per month.

Our compensation package totals approximately $62,000 annually and includes a $40,000 salary, $1,500 CE allowance, individual housing with utilities covered, Oklahoma state veterinary license, AVMA and AAEP dues, health insurance, and the opportunity to earn emergency fees (averaging around $3,000).

Oakridge serves a broad referral base throughout Oklahoma and neighboring states, with a caseload made up primarily of Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds across disciplines including racing, rodeo, and pleasure. We are dedicated to high-quality patient care and are equipped with a high-field MRI to support the diagnosis of complex soft tissue injuries. Our treatment capabilities also include stem cell therapy, regenerative laser, platelet-rich plasma, IRAP, shockwave, AO/ASIF fracture fixation, and a wide range of advanced surgical, medical, and sports medicine therapies.
