General Description
The Summer Office Assistants will provide office support and assist in the day-to-day operations of the TRIO Upward Bound six-week Summer Program at Oklahoma City Community College. Position hours will start in May 2026 and end in July 2026.

Minimum Education/Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work flexible hours - mornings, afternoons, some weekends - as needed supervise high school students and assist staff.
Possess valid drivers license and have good driving record.
Positive human relations skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
Ability to monitor and supervise high school students.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Demonstrated ability to make independent, sound decisions.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the TRiO Office to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to use the upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position's essential functions are performed in an indoor, office setting with some outdoor functions.

Greet visitors, students, and parents professionally and assist them with inquiries or directing them to appropriate staff members.
Manage incoming phone calls, emails, and other correspondence, providing information or forwarding messages as necessary.
Maintain organized records of student attendance, program schedules, and other pertinent information at the front desk.
Assist with the distribution of program materials, forms, and resources to students and families.
Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure front desk operations run smoothly and efficiently throughout the program.
Maintain accurate records of student behavior, incidents, and interventions for documentation and reporting purposes.
Report any significant behavioral issues or safety concerns to program staff and appropriate authorities as required.
Collaborate with instructors to track student progress and assess the effectiveness of behavior management strategies over time.
Assist with planning and coordinating extracurricular activities, field trips, and special events as needed.
Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure consistency in expectations and approaches across program activities
Perform other duties as assigned by program supervisors to support the overall success of the Upward Bound program.
Assist Upward Bound summer instructors with checking out items, making copies, etc.
Assist Upward Bound students in the use of instructional equipment and materials.
Supervise students during the breakfast and lunch periods.
Adhere to established Upward Bound policies and procedures.
Scanning of documents.
Serve as an advocate for low-income, first-generation students.
Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
Help maintain digital records for the student database.
Assist Upward Bound staff in providing supervision and coordination of Upward Bound students on campus and, when necessary, at off-campus activities.
Create and edit content for Upward Bound social media.
Upload content to social media sites.
Drive vehicles such as mini-van or 15 passenger vans.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
