What is an antiterrorism program manager?

These managers often work with law enforcement, security teams, and government agencies to prepare for and respond to potential terrorism-related incidents. Their goal is to mitigate risks and enhance the safety and resilience of people, assets, and operations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an antiterrorism program manager?

To thrive as an Antiterrorism Program Manager, you need expertise in security operations, risk assessment, and emergency management, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in law enforcement or military settings. Familiarity with classified information systems, security incident reporting tools, and certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Antiterrorism Officer (ATO) are typically required. Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills help you coordinate teams and collaborate with multiple agencies. These skills and qualifications are vital to effectively assess threats, implement protective measures, and safeguard personnel and assets against terrorism.

What challenges do antiterrorism program managers face when coordinating with multiple agencies?

  • Report and support investigation of suspected or actual security violations, criminal incidents, lost credentials or keys, suspicious contacts, and unauthorized disclosures or system intrusions.
  • Support Security Program Reviews, vulnerability assessments, OPSEC/INFOSEC inspections, physical-security councils, audits, working groups, and corrective-action tracking.
  • Maintain security records and provide timely status reports and recommendations to ProLog and Government leadership.

  • Must be eligible for access to a DoD installation and successfully complete the Government-required Moderate Risk Personnel Security Investigation and suitability process for a public trust or sensitive position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD CAC, installation identification badge, PKI token, controlled/restricted-area access, and Government-system access, as applicable.
  • If assigned classified duties, must complete required nondisclosure, briefing, debriefing, and clearance documentation before handling classified information.
  • Must be eligible for minimum IT II access, including a favorably adjudicated T3 investigation, when using Government systems beyond data entry.
  • Must safeguard classified information, CUI, proprietary information, Government systems, facilities, property, and mission data and comply with CMMC and all DoD, DLA, and installation security requirements.
  • Must complete and help administer initial and recurring security training, including CUI, AT/FP, OPSEC, Counterintelligence, INFOSEC, and CTIP.

KEY PERSONNEL AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENT
