JOB DESCRIPTION

The Diez Group, Kansas City, is a tier one manufacturing supplier of blanked material. We are looking for a Stacker-Press/Operator to join our team. Your position will focus on safe and efficient set-up, changeover, safe operation, and troubleshooting of the press machines. 


The Diez Group is a Hispanic-owned minority business that believes in delivering high-quality products on time and at competitive prices to its customers.


Overtime after 40 hours

Double time on Sunday after 40 hours

Shift differential for 2nd shift $.75 per hour


Summary/Objective

Your position will focus on the setup, changeovers, safe operation, and troubleshooting of the press machines to maximize efficiency and output in a 160,000 sq. ft. facility. The ideal candidate will be able to read measuring devices and interpret blueprints and drawings. You must observe workplace safety rules and guidelines. Prior experience in a warehouse environment is a plus, and while experience operating a press is preferred, we are willing to train otherwise motivated applicants. You must be able to interpret written instructions, stand, crouch, and lift objects throughout a normal shift. Exercise sound judgment in decision-making.

Essential Functions

  • Read and understand work instructions, handle materials to and from the workstation, and get the workstation and equipment ready for production.
  • Perform die changeovers and select the correct materials to run.
  • Must be able to solve the majority of problems if setup-related.
  • Correct, or seek support to correct, any setup or tool problems preventing the production of good parts.
  • Operates the press to punch and form parts according to specifications.
  • Adjusts and tightens hold-down bolts, dies, springs, and pins. Lubricates material and parts as required.
  • Completes all required and assigned paperwork.
  • Performs housekeeping activities daily as outlined by the supervisor.
  • Complies with all quality checks, including first- and last-part inspections.
  • Maintains quality standards, keeps the workstation in order, reports work shortages, and performs own rework.


Requirements

Qualifications

Professional crane operator certification a plus

Ability to be licensed to operate powered industrial equipment (hilo, crane, manlift)

Able to effectively communicate problems, root cause, and corrective actions needed to upper management and support staff

Perform all work in an ethical manner

Take initiative when you see something that needs fixing; don't wait for it to break

Adhere to attendance policy


Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a plant floor environment and requires the use of PPE. The job may also require working in a truck lot or office setting. This role routinely uses hand tools and various meters. In addition to standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

The physical demands described here are representative of the essential functions that must be performed successfully.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and ascending and descending stairs all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The position also requires the ability to operate and be certified/licensed to operate powered industrial equipment, such as hilos, manlifts, and cranes.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with weekend work and extended hours as required.


Travel

This position requires no travel.


Required Education and Experience

High school diploma

1-2 years of relevant experience preferred

Ability to read and decipher blueprints and schematics.

Ability to make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery

The ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, with up to 20 pounds as the most frequent lift

The ability to physically perform the requirements of the tasks assigned

Must possess acceptable work history and attendance record

Excellent coordination, focus, and dedication to following safety protocols
