What Are the Qualifications to Get an Animator Internship?

The qualifications to get an animator internship depend on the type of internship for which you are looking. You can quickly make lots of 2D and 3D sketches that bring concepts and ideas to life to test collaboratively with designers, strategists and  technologists. You speak with clarity and conviction about design choices and your process. Your portfolio shows an understanding of timeless design and current trends. It shows a track record of rigor in design, love and attention to detail and iteration – form, shape, graphic hierarchy, structure, balance and framing across many media – e.g. print, mobile, web, as prompts for generative work, UX/UI, in physical space [large scale] and non-traditional spaces. You produce design work that a majority of folks find polished, arresting, visceral, innovative – going beyond typical and generic design solutions without clutter and extraneous detailing.

Role Overview:

You will need to be communicative, as you will learn to interact with many members of the team, across disciplines. You will lean on your demonstrated ability to articulate your vision and effectively receive feedback. Naturally, your portfolio of work shows solid design across several media beyond print.

Key Responsibilities:
You will research, collect, and distill ideas into usable references & guidelines for the design team. You will help to develop creative and strategic briefs, participate in workshop sessions to help teams solve complex design challenges. You will collaborate with internal teams and help the design process on many types of projects.

Evaluation:
We conduct monthly meetings to review progress across your core responsibilities, professional and personal goals. We align each intern with a mentor who will help refine your goals, how you approach them, monitor progress, and help your internship be most beneficial.

Role Requirements:
•You must be fluent with Adobe Creative Suite.
•You are able to articulate your design process and talk about your work in clear, candid, and easy to understand ways
•Animation, 3D & coding experience is ideal.
•You take direction well and exhibit good time-management and communication skills.
•You are eligible to legally work in the USA and can commit to the full duration of your 3 month internship.
•You can work in our Brooklyn, NY studio in accordance with our hybrid work policy.
To be considered for this role, please note:
  • Post-graduate interns only (we don't accept interns who are still in school or between semesters)
  • 3 month minimum duration (with option to extend)
  • Active online portfolio including recent and relevant work samples
