Storyboard Artist (PH) โ€“ Lucasfilm Animation

Lucasfilm Animation Ltd., the creators of the Emmy awardโ€‘winning animation series โ€œStar Wars: The Clone Warsโ€ and the highly successful animation series โ€œStar Wars: Maul โ€“ Shadow Lord,โ€ โ€œStar Wars Rebels,โ€ โ€œStar Wars Resistance,โ€ โ€œStar Wars: The Bad Batch,โ€ โ€œTales of the Jediโ€ and โ€œTales of the Empireโ€ are looking for a Floater Storyboard Artist who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, production excellence, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that defines Lucasfilm Ltd.


The Floater Storyboard Artist works closely with a variety of writers, story artists, and directors to convey the narrative through visual storytelling techniques in a 3D computer graphics environment. They work directly from screenplays and revision notes to set up the stage and cameras in a 3D environment. It is their job to explore the possibilities of each scene, capture them as shots with 3D camera setups, and edit their work together as movies for submission to the show's story reel. The Floater will at times work as a Story Revisionist, as needs arise, often working on multiple episodes.


They must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position is considered Hybrid, meaning the employee will work onsite in our San Francisco office and occasionally from home.


What youโ€™ll do

The 3D Story Artist handles composition, screen direction, camera angles, staging, posing, pace, and timing (all the while ensuring that it maintains and fulfills the story point). Work is done when final 3D camera setups are delivered to downstream production departments.


What weโ€™re looking for

  • 5+ years in feature film or television production, or equivalent experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Animation, or Fine Arts recommended.

  • Reel containing examples of work in liveโ€‘action or animated film that exhibits a strong emphasis on visual storytelling, including staging, composition, and editing.

  • Competency in 2D storyboarding, or comparable form.

  • Must be confident working extensively with computers.

  • Experience with using 3D animation software โ€“ a strong plus.

  • Acting out the scene while working on it for the enjoyment of your coworkers โ€“ also a plus.


The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $108,200 to $139,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidateโ€™s geographic region, jobโ€‘related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A bonus and/or longโ€‘term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
