Senior Product Designer

Cavallo Solutions

Grand Rapids, MI • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 2 days ago

Job description

Cavallo is looking for a Product Designer to create intuitive, high-impact experiences for distributors navigating complex operational challenges. You will partner closely with product managers, engineers, customers, and fellow designers to turn ambiguity into clear, useful, and scalable product experiences.

This role is ideal for a designer who combines strong product thinking with exceptional craft. You are curious about how emerging technologies can improve both the products we build and the way design work gets done. You will help shape intelligent, trustworthy experiences that make complex workflows feel simple, fast, and actionable.

What You'll Do

  • Lead design work across the full product development lifecycle, from early discovery and concept exploration through detailed interaction design and implementation.
  • Partner closely with product managers and engineers to define problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and shape solutions together.
  • Engage directly with customers and customer-facing teams to uncover pain points, validate concepts, and identify opportunities.
  • Use qualitative research, product data, and business insights to inform decisions and measure the impact of design improvements.
  • Leverage AI tools to streamline research, generate and test ideas, and move from concept to validated design more quickly.
  • Explore opportunities to introduce AI-powered capabilities that are useful, explainable, and grounded in real customer needs.
  • Contribute to and evolve Cavallo's design system, interaction patterns, and product standards for greater consistency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with engineering throughout implementation to preserve the intent, quality, and usability of the final experience.
  • Help raise the quality bar for product thinking, visual design, usability, and accessibility across the organization.
  • Make complex B2B workflows feel clear, efficient, and intuitive without oversimplifying the work our customers need to accomplish.

What You Bring

  • 5 years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or a related discipline, preferably within B2B, SaaS, enterprise software, or data-rich products.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates your process, product thinking, interaction design, visual craft, and ability to solve complex problems.
  • Experience designing end-to-end product experiences, from research and problem definition through prototyping, validation, and polished UI.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to understand how individual features fit within a broader product ecosystem.
  • A high level of proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping workflows.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve the speed or quality of your design process, paired with the judgment to evaluate their outputs critically.
  • Curiosity about AI-native product experiences and how intelligent systems can support, rather than complicate, customer decision-making.
  • The ability to create prototypes at the appropriate level of fidelity, from rapid concept models to realistic, interactive experiences.
  • A strong foundation in human-computer interaction, with the ability to apply behavioral principles, usability heuristics, and user-centered design methods to complex product experiences.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, asking strong questions, and bringing structure to loosely defined problems.

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing enterprise, analytics, financial, operational, or workflow-heavy software.
  • Familiarity with distribution, order management, ERP, inventory, supply chain, or related business systems.
  • Experience designing AI-powered features, conversational interfaces, decision-support tools, or human-in-the-loop workflows.
  • Experience with data visualization and translating complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • A foundational understanding of front-end technologies and how design decisions affect implementation.
  • Experience with motion design, interaction animation, or advanced prototyping.
  • Familiarity with product analytics, experimentation, or measuring the impact of design changes.

Why Join Cavallo?

  • Help solve meaningful operational challenges for distributors and the people who keep their businesses running.
  • Work on complex product problems where thoughtful design can create visible, measurable customer value.
  • Join a product-first team where designers are involved in shaping problems, not simply producing interfaces.
  • Collaborate with colleagues who value curiosity, constructive feedback, and shared ownership.
  • Help define how Cavallo thoughtfully incorporates AI into its products and product-development practices.
  • Contribute to the evolution of a growing SaaS platform, design system, and product organization.
  • Work with leaders who believe great design is essential to creating trustworthy, useful, and differentiated products.
  • Grow your skills while having meaningful influence over the direction and quality of the customer experience.
