Located on the SMU campus in Dallas, Texas, the George W. Bush Presidential Center is a nonpartisan institution advancing the timeless values of freedom, opportunity, accountability, and compassion. The Bush Center comprises the George W. Bush Presidential Museum and the George W. Bush Institute, a solution-oriented policy organization focused on ensuring opportunity for all, strengthening democracy, and advancing free societies through policy solutions and public engagement. The Bush Center also houses the George W. Bush Presidential Library, operated by the National Archives and Records Administration, which provides access to official documents and artifacts from the George W. Bush Administration. Essential Responsibilities
The Manager of Design and Creative Services leads the visual expression of the Bush Center across all platforms. This role is responsible for setting and executing a cohesive, modern, and institutional design standard that reflects the mission and priorities of the organization.
This position drives creative direction for editorial content, events, marketing campaigns, and digital experiences, ensuring clarity, consistency, and excellence across every audience touchpoint. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on designer and animator, capable of elevating the Bush Center's visual identity while delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Design Responsibilities
  • Managing consistent and cohesive design strategy and execution for the Bush Center, including its sub-brands
  • Designing and producing material - digital, online, print, and environmental -- for all areas of the Bush Center. Designs should incorporate clear communication of ideas, and information while creatively representing the Bush Center's brand
  • Create animations and interactive designs to support modern storytelling
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to identify needs implement design-driven solutions, including templates that meet self-service needs

Project Management
  • Researching, selecting, and managing external design services, including with printers and other designers
  • Managing projects from conception to execution, and reporting on the progress of projects initiatives to key stakeholders
  • Clearly communicating, using data, the effectiveness of executed campaigns and using that data to improve future projects

General Communications and Marketing Activities
  • Provide assistance for special projects within the Communications and Marketing department, as needed and assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The qualified candidate will possess (a/an):
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of five years of similar experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization
  • Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications; Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; and Canva
  • Ability to create animations, including HTML-based interactives
  • Advanced knowledge of design principles for multiple media
  • Familiarity with modern accessibility best practices
  • Commitment to the values, mission, and vision of the George W. Bush Presidential Center

In addition, the candidate for this position will demonstrate:
