Job description

Title: Household Manager & Family Assistant
Location: Spencerport, NY 14559
Employment Type: Part-time (12-15 hours per week)
Proposed Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $28-32/hour based on experience
Requirements:
  • Able to maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Proposed Schedule:
  • Ideal schedule would include 3 days per week, with 4-5-hour shifts between 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Flexibility for evening or weekend coverage as needed.

About Our Family:
We are a busy family with two active children, ages 14 and 16, who participate in year-round sports. We are seeking help with household management to ease the demands of our hectic schedules. Both parents work full-time: one with a flexible office schedule, and the other in-office two days a week and in surgery on other days. Our home also includes a small, friendly dog and a pet rabbit, with the kids managing animal care.
We are looking for a warm, reliable, and highly organized individual to assist with a variety of tasks, including meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, and helping with the logistics of getting the kids to/from sports practices and occasional appointments. While childcare is not a primary need with our older kids, we value someone who is comfortable with children, can offer light supervision, and assist with transportation. If this sounds like a good fit, we would love to meet you!
Who We're Looking For
We need a flexible, dependable, and detail-oriented House Manager & Family Assistant to support our busy household. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to take charge of daily tasks independently. You should have experience with children, be comfortable handling meal prep and grocery shopping, and have a strong focus on organization. A love for animals, particularly dogs, is a bonus. The role requires someone who can step in with minimal direction and adjust to the ever-changing needs of an active family.
Ideal Traits & Skills:
  • Trustworthy & Reliable: You should have a strong track record for reliability and integrity.
  • Organized & Proactive: Ability to handle laundry, meal prep, grocery shopping, and household organization.
  • Communication: Clear, efficient communicator, with the ability to adapt to changes in the family's schedule.
  • Comfortable with Children & Animals: Experience in managing a household with both children and pets.
  • Flexible & Adaptable: Willing to take on additional tasks as needed and adjust to family schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
This role focuses on keeping the household running smoothly day to day, with a few core priorities that anchor the work. Other responsibilities support the overall flow of the home and are handled as time allows or on an as-needed basis. We care more about the right things getting done - not checking all the boxes.
Weekly Priorities:
  • Create and maintain household organization systems (pantry)
  • Weekly resets and prepping home for cleaners
  • Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)
  • Wash/fold/organize laundry (kids will put theirs away)
  • Batch prep 3 meals weekly that family can heat up
  • Batch breakfast meals for grab and go
  • Bulk batch prep seasoned meat
  • Grocery shopping

Those core daily and weekly responsibilities come first, but once handled, we welcome support in other areas based on time, energy, and household needs that week, including:
Family Support & Child Assistance
  • Occasional pick-ups/drop-offs to sports practice, doctor appointments, etc.

Household Management & Organization
  • Prepare and coordinate occasional donation drop-offs
  • Prepare winter/fall sports "go-bags" for car (clothes, shoes, snacks)
  • Gather and organize gear for winter ski weekends
  • Packing/unpacking for travel

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
  • Work with cleaner to organize occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refresh mudroom/entry
  • Organizational projects (closets)

Inventory Management & Errands
  • Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies
  • Manage running household supply lists
  • Help manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon/Costco/Target)
  • Drop off returns
  • Bring in packages, put items away

Meal Planning & Prep
  • Follow dietary needs/preferences (Type 1 Diabetes, tree nut allergy, low sodium)
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance

Laundry & Linen Care
  • Linen rotation (sheets & towels)
  • Maintain tidy and well stocked laundry areas

Vehicle Management
  • One-off assistance taking car to mechanic & providing a ride back
  • Fueling/cleaning/organizing vehicles, as needed
  • Manage seasonal "go packs" with clothing and snacks

Vendor & Property Oversight
  • Research/coordinate repairs and quotes

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support
  • Potentially provide transportation for kids to appointments as needed

How to Apply:
Please submit:
  • A short letter introducing yourself and explaining why you'd be a great fit.
  • Your updated resume.
  • Three professional references with contact information.

This role requires a background check.
