The purpose of this position is to assist in managing the operations of the County's animal shelter; to plan and supervise the care and keeping of domestic animals and livestock; to oversee intake, rescue, adoption, and foster placement of animals. Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 117: $27.61 - $33.13 per hour

Salary is determined based on qualifications. Work Schedule: Includes day shift, evening shift, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and ability to respond on call as needed. Our Total Compensation Package: Compensation - competitive market-rate pay, and negotiable based on qualifications.

Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Assists the Animal Services Director to plan, direct, and supervise the operations and personnel of the Shelter operations division.

Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety. Maintains shelter records and inventory. Maintains animal health, evaluate behavior, monitor capacity, while working with the Animal Services Director and Veterinarian for health issues and capacity issues.

Administers "managed intake" program for Owner release animals. Markets animals available for adoption and rescue through various social media outlets. Facilitate approval of rescue groups and coordinate appropriate placement and transfer of animals Works with Management staff to identify and implement long-range programs and regularly review policies and procedures.

Works with fosters, volunteers and management to coordinate the foster program, train volunteers, and increase volunteer opportunities. Responds to citizen concerns about animals under care. Conducts euthanasia of animals for injured, medical or behavior.

Operates county owned motor vehicle to attend adoption events, transport animals, and/or assist with onsite locations. Performs related work as assigned. About you Education and Experience: Associate's Degree.

Three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certifications and Licenses: Valid driver's license is required. Ability to obtain SC Euthanasia and Incinerator Certifications.

CPR and First Aid Certifications required Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered. Physical Demands / Work Environment / Disclaimer Physical Demands: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. Involves routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.

Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife. Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors. Traffic; Moving machinery.

Electrical shock; Heights. Radiation; Disease/pathogens. Exposure to fractious and rabies infected animals.
