Duties:

  • Client communication
  • Triaging patients including basic injury/illness assessment, gathering patient information, and taking vital signs.
  • Performing diagnostic testing including radiographs and lab work
  • Assisting with surgical procedures and patient monitoring
  • Assisting in taking radiographs
  • Giving IV & IM injections
  • Dispensing controlled drugs
  • Placing IV catheters and maintaining feeding tubes and urinary catheters
  • Monitor Surgical procedures.
  • Lab Diagnostics
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
  • Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations.
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively with computers and electronics.
Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift patients up to 40lbs throughout the workday with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat

Education and Experience:

  • At least one year of veterinary experience as an assistant or technician preferred.
