POSITION DESCRIPTION: The AZCC Maintenance Chiller role is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment found at the Chiller.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues affecting chiller performance.
- Inspect compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, cooling towers, valves, and associated equipment.
- Monitor operating parameters and optimize system efficiency.
- Conduct refrigerant leak detection, recovery, charging, and evacuation in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Perform vibration analysis, oil analysis, and system performance testing as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Troubleshoot electrical components, including motors, starters, contactors, relays, VFDs, and control circuits.
- Maintain and calibrate sensors, thermostats, pressure controls, and building automation system (BAS) interfaces.
- Complete maintenance reports, work orders, inspection records, and service documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and PPE requirements.
- Respond to emergency service calls and equipment breakdowns as needed.
- Coordinate with facility personnel, contractors, and vendors to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe operating condition.
- Recommend equipment repairs, upgrades, and replacement strategies to improve system reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in HVAC/R preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial chillers (or as required by the employer).
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of HVAC/R principles, refrigeration cycles, and chiller operation.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules when required.
- Distinguish colors for electrical wiring identification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
? Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
? Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
? Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
? Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
? Frequently stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
? Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (or more with assistance).
? Work around moving mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and refrigerants.
? Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
