Job description

Role Description This internship role focuses on the daily care and well-being of Russian dwarf hamsters in a professional office environment at Sneper Advocatuur B.V. The position is hybrid, based in Amsterdam, NY, with some tasks that can be performed from home, such as documentation, planning, and observation reporting. Day-to-day responsibilities include feeding, watering, and safely handling the hamsters; cleaning and maintaining cages and enrichment items; monitoring behavior and health; and promptly reporting any concerns. The intern will help maintain records of diet, health checks, and environmental conditions, and assist in developing enrichment activities to promote natural behaviors and overall welfare. The role also involves coordinating with office staff to ensure a quiet, safe environment for the animals and following all established hygiene and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated compassion for animals and commitment to high standards of welfare and humane handling.
  • Basic knowledge or strong interest in small animal care, particularly rodents or hamsters, including nutrition, hygiene, and behavior.
  • Attention to detail and reliability in following care routines, documenting observations, and adhering to safety and cleanliness procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional office setting, communicating clearly and respectfully with colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle recurring tasks and adjust to changing needs of the animals and the office.
  • Comfort with a hybrid work arrangement, including onsite animal care in Amsterdam, NY and occasional remote administrative tasks.
  • Willingness to learn, follow guidance from supervisors, and adapt to updated care protocols or legal office requirements.
