What is an animal health assistant?

Animal Health Assistants are professionals who support veterinarians and veterinary nurses in caring for animals. Their duties include feeding, cleaning, handling animals, assisting during medical procedures, maintaining equipment, and performing basic health checks. They play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of animals in veterinary clinics, shelters, and research facilities. Animal Health Assistants often work as part of a team and may also provide guidance to pet owners on basic animal care.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of an animal health assistant in a veterinary clinic?

Animal Health Assistants play a vital role in veterinary clinics, handling a mix of animal care and administrative duties. On a typical day, you may assist veterinarians during examinations, help restrain animals, clean and sterilize equipment, administer medications, and provide comfort to pets and their owners.
