NanBop Farm is a beyond organic, regenerative farm located in Cadillac, Michigan! We are a dynamic farm with BIG goals! We are a functional farm that is focused on education, food, and fun! We want to highlight the realities of farming while sparking the joy of cooking fresh, nutritious food sourced locally. We have laying hens in full lay, goats, and full vegetable production! We aim to be an educational center on all fronts: internships, farm tours, small conventions, agrotourism, TV segments, classes, and more.
We are looking for an enthusiastic farmhand to be an active participant in the farm. The right candidate would have a passion for both vegetable and livestock production and will be expected to work with both aspects of the farm daily.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Farm Hand to assist with daily operations on a vegetable and chicken farm. This role involves hands-on work in crop production, poultry care, and general farm maintenance. Ideal candidates enjoy working outdoors, are self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic. This is a seasonal part-time role.
Key Responsibilities
Vegetable Production:
• Planting, seeding, transplanting, and harvesting crops
• Weeding, watering, and general crop care
• Washing, sorting, and packaging produce for market, sale, and CSA subscriptions
• Assisting with high tunnel operations and maintenance
Poultry Care:
• Feeding and watering chickens daily
• Collecting, cleaning, and packaging eggs for sale
• Cleaning coops and maintaining sanitary conditions
• Monitoring flock health and reporting concerns
• Provide basic wound care for injured/wounded chickens
General Farm Duties:
• Assisting with farmers market prep and setup
• Assisting with CSA prep and setup
• Maintaining tools, equipment, and workspaces
• Fencing, repairs, and general property upkeep
• Following farm safety and biosecurity practices
Qualifications:
• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting 40-50lbs, bending, standing for long periods of time)
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
• Prior farm or animal care experience is a plus, but not required
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
• Experience with vegetable farming or gardening
• Basic knowledge of poultry care and conditions
• Familiarity with small farm equipment
• Valid driver's license
Seasonal & Part Time Work Schedule:
• Flexible hours, may include early mornings, evenings, occasional weekends
• Seasonal workload fluctuations (heavier during planting and harvesting)
