Wilkes County Veterinary Services is a well-established mixed animal veterinary hospital serving Washington, GA and the surrounding rural communities. Our team provides comprehensive care to a wide range of patients-from companion animals to livestock-delivering high-quality medicine with a strong focus on client relationships and community impact.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role supporting veterinarians across small animal appointments, large animal cases, and on-call emergencies. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment as well as traveling for farm calls, assisting with urgent and routine care for large animals.
Participation in the on-call rotation is a key component of this position, supporting emergency care needs for both small and large animal patients outside of standard business hours.

Clinical & Surgical Support
- ย Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures for both small and large animalsย
- ย Prepare and restrain patients safely for exams, diagnostics, and surgeryย
- ย Monitor anesthesia and support surgical procedures and recoveryย
Large Animal & Farm Call Support
- ย Assist with farm calls and field services, including handling livestock and supporting ambulatory careย
- ย Prepare equipment and supplies for off-site visitsย
- ย Support veterinarians during after-hours emergency calls, including large animal casesย
Diagnostics & Treatment
- ย Perform laboratory testing, radiographs, and basic diagnosticsย
- ย Administer medications, vaccines, and fluids as directedย
- ย Maintain accurate and detailed patient recordsย
Client Communication & Facility Support
- ย Communicate effectively with clients, providing education and updates on patient careย
- ย Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment environmentย
Schedule & On-Call Expectations
Clinic Hours:
Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Sunday: Closed
On-Call Rotation (Required):
- ย Approximately 1 night per week or every other weekย
- ย Weekend on-call rotation every 6-8 weeksย
- ย Includes after-hours emergency calls and farm calls, supporting both large and small animal patients
- High school diploma or equivalent requiredย
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital preferred
- Experience with large animals (equine, livestock) strongly preferred
- ย Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (LVT, RVT, CVT) encouraged to applyย
