Duties * You will perform periodic patrols of the installation for stray, abandoned or neglected animals, capturing animals and transporting them to the local animal shelter. * You will investigate reports of animal bites or aggression, immediately responding to and isolating/controlling and detaining animal until appropriate action is taken. * You will respond and investigate reports of animal abuse and neglect. * You will initiate corrective action to protect the animal if there is evidence of abuse or neglect. * You will document and report abusive or neglect incidents. You will evaluate animals for suspected medical conditions and ensure a safe and clean living condition. * You will administer the Installations and Environment Department's Feral Trapping Program, for cats and dogs. Overtime and/or unusual hours may be required. This position requires shift work. * Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be 18 years of age. * This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. * You must pass a written deadly force test prior to being issued Oleoresin Capsicum (OC Spray). * You must be willing and able to submit to a pre-employment physical exam prior to employment * You will be subject to call back and may be required to carry an electronic device for call back. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing investigative and administrative support pertaining to the handling, control and transportation of stray, wild, domestic, abandoned, neglected, and/or abused animals.
