Job description

Point Clear: A Place Worth Calling Home
St. Francis is located in the Point Clear community of Fairhope on Alabama's Eastern Shore, overlooking Mobile Bay. Fairhope combines the character of a small town with an unusually rich quality of life: a walkable downtown, flower-filled streets, waterfront parks, an active arts community, recreational trails, strong public services, and schools the City itself describes as exceptional.
The setting is one of the genuine attractions of this call. Mobile Bay is part of daily life here, with sunsets, waterfront parks, and the historic Fairhope pier close at hand. Mobile is a short drive across the bay, while the beaches of Alabama's Gulf Coast are within easy reach. Fairhope has long drawn artists, writers, craftspeople, families, and retirees; the City describes it as a warm, friendly, walkable community that has retained much of its small-town atmosphere.
For a priest or family considering a move, the call offers a rare combination: meaningful parish leadership, a beautiful coastal community, established ministry partners, and the chance to help shape the next season of a healthy and growing church.
The Rector We Hope to Call
Above all, we seek a Rector whose ministry flows from a deep love for God and His people: a mature disciple of Jesus Christ, a person of fervent prayer, and a humble shepherd. The Rector must be biblically orthodox, affirm the teaching of the ACNA catechism, To Be a Christian, be ordained to the priesthood in the ACNA, and have experience serving as a priest in an Anglican church.
We hope to call a priest who can preach the Gospel clearly and faithfully, communicate well, lead collaboratively, and bring sound judgment to the practical stewardship of parish life. Experience supervising church staff, administering ministries, working with budgets and finances, and using contemporary technology will be important.
A Parish Positioned for Its Next Chapter
We are praying for a Rector who will honor what is best in our history, know and love the people entrusted to his care, and help St. Francis discern how God is calling us to deepen our discipleship, strengthen our common life, and extend the Gospel on the Eastern Shore in the years ahead.
We are grateful for the growth and ministry of the past thirteen years, and we believe the next Rector will inherit both a strong foundation and genuine opportunities for the future. The congregation has active ministries across generations, a growing clergy team, a renovated historic chapel, a stable financial base, and a community in which people genuinely want to live.
Compensation & Inquiry
St. Francis at the Point offers a full-time salary and benefits. Qualified priests who sense that this may be a call worth exploring are warmly invited to inquire or submit a résumé.
