Job description

Job Title: Anesthesia Technician
Location: Orange, CA 
Duration: 13-week 
Shift: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm (5x8; start times may vary between 06:30 and 08:30)
Pay Rate: $42/hr (W2) | $45/hr (1099) 

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Anesthesia Technician to support surgical services in the Anesthesia Tech unit (SJO Surgery). The ideal candidate will have at least one year of relevant experience, hold a current BLS certification, and demonstrate proficiency in anesthesia equipment setup, patient preparation, and operating room safety. This role involves close collaboration with anesthesia providers and the surgical team to ensure optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist anesthesia providers during procedures, including airway management, intubations, and patient positioning.
  • Prepare, operate, and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and related equipment.
  • Set up ET tubes, IV/arterial line catheters, and monitoring devices.
  • Draw blood via venous stick or arterial line.
  • Maintain sterile environments and follow infection control, laser safety, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Transport patients and ensure accurate documentation of procedures.
  • Support in critical situations, emergency intubations, and specialized airway interventions.
  • Float to other units as needed (Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, GI, Labor & Delivery, Radiology, OR).

Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year as an Anesthesia Technician or similar role.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
  • Skills:
    • Airway management (including intubating LMA, light wand, cricothyrotomy sets).
    • IV insertion, patient transport, patient positioning.
    • Operating and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment.
    • Knowledge of OR safety, isolation precautions, sterilization/disinfection, and procedure documentation.
  • Charting System: Epic (experience required; any charting experience considered).

Work Setting
  • Acute Care Hospital – MAGNET® designated facility.
  • Operating Room & Ambulatory OR environments.
  • Adults patient population.
  • Collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.

Schedule & Coverage
  • Shift: Day, 5x8-hour shifts.
  • Weekends: Every other weekend (minimum), with additional coverage as needed.
  • On-Call: Not required.
  • Floating: Required between specified units.
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period.
