Responsibilities
  • 1. Assists in Operating Room Setup and Turnover:
    • 1.1 Assists with turnover, including the changing and cleaning of anesthesia disposables and non-disposables.
  • 2. Provides Basic Technical Support to Anesthesia Team in Operating Rooms and Off-Floor Locations:
    • 2.1 Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment to ensure functionality and safety during procedures.
  • 3. Provides Complex Care Support to Anesthesia Care Providers:
    • 3.1 Maintains difficult airway equipment, trauma room setups, and ensures readiness for emergency situations.
  • 4. Ensures Availability and Sterility of Anesthesia Equipment and Supplies:
    • 4.1 Decontaminates, cleans, and sterilizes echocardiogram transducers, ensuring compliance with clinical sterilization and documentation protocols.
  • 5. Personal Effectiveness and Accountability:
    • 5.1 Consistently follows through on commitments, ensuring that all tasks are completed with attention to clinical detail and patient safety.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, prefer Associates degree in Biological Sciences. Factory approved training in basic trouble shooting for anesthesia machines, physiologic monitors, blood gas machines, and rapid infusers preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 12 months as a clinical technician, PCA, CNA,TA, pharmacy technician preferred. Operating room experience and technical background is helpful. For casual position we encourage nursing students and healthcare college students to apply.
LICENSURE
BLS required within 3 months of hire.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Employee must exhibit excellent communication skills. Individual must be able to tolerate high stress areas of work. . Basic computer skills are required to perform daily tasks in OR applications to include email, RFID equipment tracking system and Epic status board. Individual is expected to achieve competence in all required skills after completion of department training program, including passing departmental competencies. Employee must possess good interpersonal skills in order to participate as a member of the Perioperative Support staff.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
The working environment is a high stress area. The ability to perform tasks of physical endurance and dexterity as required. Individual must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, using consistent use of proper body mechanics. All duties require pushing, pulling lifting, bending and standing. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Exposure to biohazards and handling of bodily fluids.
