Hands-on experiences include preparing anesthesia equipment, assisting with patient setup, and learning to troubleshoot common equipment issues under supervision. You will often work closely with anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and surgical teams, gaining exposure to a variety of surgical procedures and patient care scenarios. This direct interaction helps build confidence and competence in real operating room environments.

Can I become an anesthesia tech without a degree?

While a degree is not always mandatory, most employers prefer candidates with formal training, such as a certificate or post-secondary program, and relevant skills in medical equipment and patient care.

Becoming an anesthesia tech typically requires completing a post-secondary training program, which lasts about 6 months to 1 year, followed by on-the-job training. Overall, the process usually takes around 1 to 2 years depending on the program and certification requirements.

What is the highest paid anesthesia tech?
