What are some common challenges Android developers face when working on large-scale apps, and how can they overcome them?

Android developers working on large-scale applications often encounter challenges like managing complex codebases, ensuring consistent performance across diverse devices, and maintaining backward compatibility. To address these, developers typically use modular architectures (such as MVVM or Clean Architecture), implement thorough automated testing, and leverage tools like ProGuard and Android's profiling tools to optimize performance. Regular code reviews and effective communication within cross-functional teams also help in maintaining code quality and aligning on best practices.

Android itself is based on a modified version of Linux and uses large amounts of open source software. Android prioritizes touchscreen interfaces, but in recent years, voice commands have become an increasingly important part of its services.
