Role Summary

T. Rowe Price is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our integrated Application Development team. In this role, you will partner with cross-functional teams to design, build, and enhance high-quality native mobile applications that support key client experiences in the financial services industry.
This role requires deep expertise in Android development and strong experience applying that knowledge across related technical areas. You will lead complex technical initiatives, contribute to architectural direction, and solve challenging problems with thoughtful, scalable solutions. We also value candidates with experience or interest in modern AI-enabled engineering practices and emerging technologies, including agentic AI, spec-driven development, and AI tooling that can improve developer productivity and accelerate innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development efforts for key initiatives, including providing input into architecture, design decisions, and delivery estimates

  • Design and build mobile solutions in partnership with architecture, product, design, DevOps, and enterprise security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and strategic direction

  • Contribute to code reviews and provide clear, constructive feedback to maintain code quality and consistency

  • Lead technical discussions that balance short-term needs with long-term strategy, clearly communicating trade-offs and recommendations

  • Mentor and support other developers, helping them grow their technical skills and work more independently

  • Explore and apply AI-assisted engineering practices to improve software delivery, development workflows, and solution quality

  • Partner with internal teams to evaluate or support intelligent, agent-driven capabilities where appropriate for client or developer experiences

Business Knowledge

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of products, user journeys, and workflows within supported business areas
  • Able to work directly with product and business partners
  • Makes decisions with an understanding of the firm's broader business strategy and long-term priorities

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in native mobile and Android application development
  • Strong knowledge of current Android platform capabilities, Google Play Store requirements, and mobile development best practices
  • Proven experience supporting the full Android application lifecycle, including development, testing, release, and post-production support
  • Strong proficiency in designing and developing Android applications using Android SDK, Kotlin, and Coroutines
  • Experience building modern user interfaces with Jetpack Compose and MVVM architecture
  • Experience developing multi-threaded, networked mobile applications
  • Experience integrating third-party libraries, SDKs, and APIs
  • Experience working with remote data through RESTful APIs and JSON
  • Working knowledge of the broader mobile landscape, including architecture patterns, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum-based software development environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, feedback, and code quality through practices such as peer reviews
  • Ability to work with existing data models and schemas and recommend improvements when needed
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve issues independently
  • Experience contributing to development tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and automation workflows
  • Experience with automated testing and building reliable, repeatable test coverage
  • Ability to maintain high standards of code quality, modularity, and testability

Preferred:

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Kiro CLI / IDE and modern software engineering workflows
  • Exposure to spec-driven development approaches and tools
  • Familiarity with agentic AI concepts and the design or integration of intelligent agent-based solutions
  • Experience or interest in Building Agentic AI Applications with Amazon Kiro
  • Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore integration patterns
  • Understanding of how AI capabilities can be applied securely and effectively across mobile applications and developer workflows

$121,000.00 - $206,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
$133,000.00 - $227,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
$151,000.00 - $258,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
