Overview
This role will be for night coverage of 7pm-7am and contracted for 122 shifts per year, a 7 on 14 off rotation, compensated at a 1.0 salary.
This individual provides direct patient care as the Center's Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner according to established protocols, policies, procedures, and accepted standards of care. Functions within approved scope and credentials as approved by Beebe Medical Center credentialing committee. Follow established nursing standards, procedures, and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
Responsibilities
Partners with Attending to provide night shift medical and surgical management for critical-care service.
Critical-care duties include managing the comprehensive care of acutely and chronically critically ill or injured adult patients in collaboration with the intensivist physician on duty (or on-call).
Advanced skills of comprehensive airway management
Invasive procedures to include central lines, arterial lines, tube thoracostomy, dialysis catheters
Selection, implementation, management, and titration of vasoactive drugs, insulin infusions, sedation, and analgesia.
The above listed critical-care duties require that this position must be certified as an acute care nurse practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program approved by the ANCC or AANP or Physician Associate. Must hold current license as a Registered Nurse or Physician Associate in the State of Delaware, national board certification as an ANCP (ANCC or AANP), a Certificate of Authority by the Delaware Board of Nursing as a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate.
  • Valid prescriptive authority as issued by the Delaware Board of Nursing or State Medical Board of Delaware
  • Must have DEA license or be eligible to apply for DEA number and license.
  • Must have a valid BLS and ACLS card upon hire.
  • Certification for FCSS and formal airway course required within 1yr of hire
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care, required.
