Medical Assistant (Dermatology) - Raleigh, NC

Southern Dermatology, an affiliate of Anne Arundel Dermatology, is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant for our outpatient dermatology office in Raleigh, NC. This role supports providers with rooming patients, documenting in the EMR, assisting with dermatology procedures, preparing specimens, and helping maintain efficient patient flow in a busy clinic.

Schedule: Full-time | 4-5 days per week

Availability: Flexibility is required based on provider and clinic schedule needs.

Responsibilities
  • Room patients and document medical history, medications, and chief complaint
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Assist providers with dermatology exams and in-office procedures
  • Prepare procedure trays, instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Prepare and route pathology/lab specimens to the correct lab
  • Accurately document patient information and scribe in the EMR
  • Review clinical task lists, phone messages, and patient follow-up items
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain equipment and exam rooms
  • Stock, organize, and inventory clinical supplies and medications
  • Maintain HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and bloodborne pathogen compliance
  • Support patient flow and provide excellent patient service in person and by phone
  • Travel to satellite offices as needed
  • Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years of recent Medical Assistant, CNA, or other clinical patient care experience preferred
  • Previous dermatology experience preferred
  • Experience taking vital signs and preparing patients for visits
  • Experience assisting with clinical procedures and specimen handling preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10, and EMR systems preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient clinic
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant or CNA program preferred

Physical Requirements: 

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and use of hands
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Possible exposure to sharps, chemicals, and infectious materials in a clinical setting
