DEPARTMENT:             Laboratory                                                       

JOB SUMMARY:          Provide general assistance to technologists and pathologists to ensure smooth work flow for the entire department.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science preferred.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to Laboratory Supervisor

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting up to 20 lbs. occasionally
  • Frequently ascend/descend stairs

ADMINISTRATIVE:

  • Change, load, rotate, clean and maintain processors.
  • Change, load, rotate, clean and maintain staining instrumentation.
  • Change, load, and maintain coverslipper.
  • Compare slides to blocks to ensure case numbers are correct and tissue matches.
  • Compare slides to requisition forms to ensure case numbers are correct and tissue matches.
  • Restock supplies as needed.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste according to procedure.
  • Must adhere to all department protocols and procedures.
  • Must be reliable, dependable and have an excellent attendance history.
  • Must be a team player.
