Job Title: Finance Manager/Controller
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $130k-175k
Position Summary
The Finance Controller is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll administration, treasury management, tax compliance, and financial controls. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records while maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
In addition to managing day-to-day accounting operations, the Finance Controller leads strategic finance initiatives, including enterprise system implementations, financial data migrations, and cross-functional projects that improve operational efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
Essential Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
  • Process accurate and timely semi-monthly payroll.
  • Calculate and process quarterly sales commissions.
  • Calculate and process semi-annual employee bonus payments.
  • Review payroll reports for accuracy and ensure compliance with applicable wage and tax laws.
  • Partner with Human Resources regarding compensation changes, new hires, terminations, and payroll-related matters.

Bank Account & Treasury Management
  • Manage all company bank accounts and maintain appropriate banking relationships.
  • Monitor daily cash activity and account balances.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing payments, including:

Domestic and international wire transfers
ACH transactions
Positive Pay exception review and approvals
  • Assist with cash forecasting and liquidity management.
  • Ensure proper internal controls over cash management activities.

Month-End Close & Financial Review
  • Lead the monthly financial close process.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review general ledger activity for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
  • Investigate material variances and communicate financial results to leadership.
  • Maintain accurate supporting documentation and accounting schedules.

Tax Compliance & Financial Reporting
  • Manage all recurring tax filings and regulatory compliance requirements, including:

Payroll taxes
Sales and use tax
State and local tax filings
Annual reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as necessary.
  • Prepare internal and external financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

Financial Documentation & Ad Hoc Reporting
  • Prepare financial analyses, schedules, and reports for executive leadership.
  • Produce documentation supporting audits, insurance renewals, banking requirements, and regulatory requests.
  • Prepare Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and other business documentation as needed.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and special financial analyses.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting requests from leadership.

Accounting Department Leadership
  • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
  • Establish priorities, assign work, and monitor departmental performance.
  • Review accounting transactions and ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.

Ongoing Strategic Projects
ERP Migration
  • Serve as Finance lead for the ERP migration involving Anatomage's business entities.
  • Coordinate financial process design, testing, validation, and implementation activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful system deployment.

Historical Financial Data Migration
  • Lead the migration of historical accounting and financial records into the new ERP system.
  • Validate data accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation throughout the migration process.
  • Develop procedures for ongoing financial data integrity.

HR System Migration Support
  • Partner with Human Resources and IT during the HR system implementation.
  • Ensure accurate integration of payroll, benefits, and accounting data.
  • Support testing, reconciliation, and post-implementation validation.
  • Assist with financial process redesign resulting from system changes.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA designation preferred.

Experience
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing an accounting team.
  • Experience leading month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Experience processing payroll and managing payroll compliance.
  • Experience with ERP implementations or system migrations strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Thorough understanding of payroll administration and payroll tax requirements.
  • Knowledge of banking operations, treasury management, and cash controls.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and financial compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience in manufacturing, medical device, education technology, healthcare technology, or life sciences industries.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting.
  • Experience with ERP implementations and data migrations.
  • Experience supporting HRIS and payroll system integrations.
