What does an Analytics Reporting Analyst do?

An Analytics Reporting Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to help organizations make informed business decisions. They design and create reports, dashboards, and visualizations that summarize key metrics and trends. These professionals often work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights. Their work supports strategic planning, performance tracking, and process improvements within a company.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Analytics Reporting Analyst?

To thrive as an Analytics Reporting Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, proficiency in data interpretation, and a background in statistics or a related field, often supported by a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with data visualization tools (such as Tableau or Power BI), SQL, and advanced Excel functions is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and clear communication help analysts present findings effectively and collaborate across teams. • Advanced proficiency in Python, R and Structured Query Language (SQL), together with experience using database platforms.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate across functions and locations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver high-quality work to deadlines and demonstrate initiative, intellectual curiosity and a practical problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure, big data technologies or business intelligence tools is preferred.
  • Experience with investment data platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, eVestment or Aladdin is preferred.
