Job Title: IT Software Engineer 5 - GA4 Implementation Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL

Job Overview

Client is seeking an experienced IT Software Engineer 5 to support enterprise digital analytics initiatives as a Google Analytics implementation specialist. This role will focus heavily on engineering-side Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager implementations, large-scale GA4 migrations, technical troubleshooting, implementation governance, and coordination with development teams.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Google Analytics engineering, web technologies, and scalable analytics implementations while collaborating closely with product management, development, and analytics teams. 

Location & Work Schedule

  • Preferred Locations: Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL
  • Additional Hub Locations: Dallas, TX or Broomfield, CO
  • Work Model: Hybrid Remote
    • Currently 2 days onsite per week
    • Expected to increase over time
  • Contract Duration: 12 Months
  • Travel Requirement: 0–25%
    • Occasional travel to Peoria office as needed

Position Summary:

This role acts as a Google Analytics implementation specialist responsible for:

  • Coordinating with site development teams
  • Leading advanced Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager implementations
  • Auditing and troubleshooting analytics configurations
  • Supporting reporting and dashboard enablement
  • Providing implementation guidance and analytics best practices
  • Driving scalable GA4 migration initiatives

This is a highly technical engineering-focused role and not a dashboard-only analytics position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support large-scale GA4 migration initiatives
  • Implement and maintain Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager
  • Educate development teams on best practices for accurate analytics data collection
  • Provide technical implementation guidance related to campaign tagging, third-party tagging, and Google Analytics integrations
  • Support data analysts and act as a subject matter expert for analytics implementation
  • Perform ad-hoc analytics investigations and reporting for business stakeholders
  • Create scalable Google Analytics implementation documentation
  • Audit, troubleshoot, and optimize existing analytics configurations
  • Participate in brainstorming and solution development sessions
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and analytics teams across global locations
  • Advocate for continuous learning and improvement in digital analytics practices

Team & Work Environment

  • Work closely with US-based and India-based teammates and development teams
  • Collaborate with Product Management and enterprise digital teams
  • Operate in a hybrid environment with increasing onsite expectations over time

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics, Marketing, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager
  • Strong experience with large-scale GA4 migrations
