About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Team Lead, Marketing Analytics, this role is responsible for short-term market analysis of Canadian and U.S. condensate markets, including supply modeling to support marketing activities and commercial decision-making. The successful candidate will bring advanced analytical and modeling expertise, with the ability to develop unique market insights and independently translate them into actionable trading ideas for execution by the condensate trading team. The Senior Analyst must be passionate about oil and condensate markets and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that is continuously evolving.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and maintain short-term (<18 months) market analysis and outlooks for condensate and crude markets across the WCSB and North America

  • Build, enhance, and maintain proprietary supply/demand models, forward balances, pricing indicators, and inter-regional flow and arbitrage analyses

  • Monitor and interpret market fundamentals, infrastructure developments, and macroeconomic drivers impacting supply, demand, and pricing dynamics

  • Generate differentiated market insights and translate them into actionable trade ideas, optimization strategies, and risk assessments

  • Partner closely with trading teams to evaluate risk/reward scenarios and support execution of commercial and marketing strategies

  • Deliver timely, decision-focused market intelligence and ad hoc analysis to support commercial decisions, asset valuation, market entry/exit assessments, and business development opportunities

  • Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams and key stakeholders to maintain aligned market views and clearly communicate market drivers, risks, and commercial impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Drive continuous improvement of analytical tools, modeling approaches, data processes, and the team's analytics platform and technology stack

  • Act as a subject matter expert by building strong cross-functional relationships and providing mentorship and guidance to other analysts while operating independently in a fast-paced environment

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Post-secondary degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in market fundamentals, energy analytics, or commodities trading environments

  • Strong knowledge of condensate and/or crude markets, including infrastructure, supply/demand fundamentals, and pricing dynamics

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative modeling capabilities, with strong attention to data accuracy, assumptions, and market interpretation

  • Proficiency with SQL and Excel, with working knowledge of Python, R, or similar tools used for data analysis, modeling, and automation

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect market fundamentals to trading strategies and business outcomes

  • Proven ability to communicate complex market insights and influence stakeholders, including senior leadership audiences

  • Experience operating in fast-paced, decision-driven environments supporting real-time or near-term commercial decisions

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently with minimal supervision

  • Professional Engineering designation or equivalent technical certification is considered an asset
